Here is a list of common items in your home or office that you may not realize contain asbestos:
Wallboard and ceiling substrates
This can include drywall, stucco, custom trim, casing, crown mouldings. This can also include decorative coatings such as scratch coat, texture, popcorn ceiling, and more.
Asbestos Cement Piping
More Commonly found in old neighborhoods it is most often found in rainwater leaders, sanitary piping, and even water mains.
Mechanical Insulation
Commonly found on heating, ventilation, boiler systems, furnace ductwork, or hot/cold water lines. As well as the mechanical fitting or straight run might contain asbestos.
Sheet Vinyl Flooring, Leveling Compound
Sheet vinyl usually contains 50 to 75 percent chrysotile asbestos. Whereas floor tile can contain anywhere from 1-50 percent. Leveling compounds from before 1990 should also be tested for asbestos.
Vermiculite
This product is a crumbly form of amphibole asbestos used in concrete block wall insulation, attic spaces, or other spaces where loose-fill insulation may be used.
